The lore of the game is where you are a girl named Layla who uses the staff of Leonidas to extract two sets of DNA to go into the memories of Kassandra to find the staff of Hermes. At this point, the player is able to pick whether to play as Kassandra or Alexios (siblings). Born in Sparta, Kassandra is trained from a young age to become a strong warrior but the Oracle of Delphi (Her name was Pythia, she was the high priestess of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi; she gained the name Oracle of Delphi) prophecies that her brother Alexios would be the ruin of Sparta. In doing, Kassandra and Alexios’s father threws off Alexios off the cliff, Kassandra attempted to save her brother but in doing killed her brother and a priest. Because she did this Kassandra was also thrown off the cliff but survived. As Kassandra grew older, she would find work as a mercenary and once she was an adult she fight against a local warlord known as the Cyclop. Fighting and stealing from him, Kassandra would meet a man named Elpanor who hired her to assassinate a powerful Spartan general. When Kassandra goes after the co-called wolf of Sparta she is shocked to discover that it is her father, it is then revealed that he is her stepfather. Kassandra allows him to live, returning to Elpanor with his helmet instead believing that the wolf of Sparta may be dead.
Elpenor reveals his plans on dragging out the war and he offers her
another job this time to assassinate her own mother. Kassandra refuses
and Elpanor orders his men to kill her but she escapes in the fight.
Now wishing to find her mother, Kassandra travels to ask the aid of
the oracle of Delphi. The Oracle reveals the threat of the Cult of the
Cosmos ( a secretive organization which operated throughout Greece in
the 5th century BCE ) who are trying to kill Kassandra and her family
but Kassandra discovers that the oracle is controlled by the cult
after confronting her the oracle tells her that Elpanor is one of the
cultists and that they are based beneath Apollos’s temple. While
Kassandra invades a cult meeting, she ends up finding out that her
brother lives.
Kassandra and her allies travel all over Greece taking part in the Peloponnesian War while trying to kill members of the Cult. Alexios contunies to work fo rthe cult and assassinates Hercules who was a political figure working agaisnt the cult and goals. Kassandra eventually finds her mother who points her in the direction of her father. Kassandra travels to the Island of Thera where she discovers the Isu temple. Using the spear of Leonidas, she discovers her real father. Her father stands at the entrance of the lost city of atlantis; he explains to Kassandra her heritage. He tells her that the Staff of Hermes is the reason why he has lived so long. He tells her that his mission was to protect the secrets of the Ancient Eso City from mankind. Kassandra sets out on a mission to help her father by finding four artifacts/relics that will seal the city away forever.
Kassandra goes back over to Greece, gaining revenge for Hercules and
convince Alexios to join her so their family could be happy again. Now
that the cult defeated Kassandra hunts down the relics which are being
protected by four mythological creatures, Sphinx, Cyclops, Minotaur, and
Medusa. Once gaining the relics Kassandra returns to her father and they
unlock a message from a precursor known as Elephia. Elephia explains
that Eso’s power and knowledge are not meant for humans and will stop
them from reaching their full potential. With the mission completed
Kassandra’s father hands the staff to Kassandra and passes away.
