Not only that myths are implied in the game cause following the war, the player must find a way to seal the ancient city of Atlantis using four relics. To get these four relics, the player must defeat four mythological creatures: the Sphinx, the Cyclops, the Minotaur, and Medusa.

Difference

During the Peloponnesian War, all the player does is help either faction gain land or lose land, they have no influence on which side in the end wins. The player is basically a third party that is just there.

While the player kills Sphinx by answering the three riddles correctly, in the myth Oedipus answers the one riddle correctly which results in Sphinx killing herself (by throwing herself off the rock where she rests or devouring herself. There is the possibility of there being a second riddle in the myth.

In both the game and myth there were three known cyclops, Arges, Steropes, and Brontes. In the game, the player fights Arges and defeats him to get the relic. While in the myth, Arges was killed by Hermes.

The player kills the Minotaur to gain the relic to seal Atlantis. While in the myth, Theseus killed the Minotaur. Both in the game and in the myth, the person to kill the Minotaur had to enter a Labyrinth.

In the myth, Medusa was killed by Perseus which he later used as a weapon before gifting it to Athena. While the player kills Medusa
